Volunteer Charles Carrigan Republican Flute Band

The 32CSM in Scotland are proud to announce the formation and launch of the Volunteer Charles Carrigan Republican Flute Band. The VCCRFB is fully equipped, due to the hard work of 32CSM members and the invaluable support of 32CSM, and is ready to start regular practices as we prepare the RFB for a busy period of marches and events in Scotland and Ireland and in furthering republicanism and supporting the 32CSM and our Irish POWs.

RFBs have a long tradition of involving, educating and politicising young working class men and women around republicanism and we are sure the VCCRFB will continue in this vein. We are sure the VCCRFB will be a credit to the cause and the 32CSM.

The band is currently comprised of both experienced musicians and very keen learners and we are open to recruitment for people of all ages and abilities, including learners. To join the VCCRFB we ask that new members be broadly in support of the aims of the 32CSM and in genuine republicanism and are prepared to work with discipline and commitment and are prepared to give a couple of hours to practice regularly. The VCCRFB is open to all irrespective of colour, creed, nationality, religion etc and anyone wishing to find out more about the VCCRFB should email us at

Vol. Billy Reid March Glasgow

The 32CSM was present at the WoSBA Volunteer Billy Reid March in Glasgow on Saturday 15th of May. Members of the Vol Charles Carrigan Cumann and the Gaughan/Stagg Cumann were there to support the commemoration of a brave volunteer who gave his life in the struggle for Irish freedom as well as to highlight the injustices, inhumane conditions and sheer brutality currently being endured by todays Irish Republicans, gaoled by the British as POWs and political prisoners, in Maghaberry Gaol.

Our message of solidarity, displayed by 32CSM members holding posters, with the prisoners and our demand for the restoration of political staus for all Irish political prisoners was warmly met by all those attending the days commemoration and march.

All copies of the Sovereign Nation were quickly distributed, demonstrating again that the voice of genuine republicanism has a growing audience in Scotland.

The 32CSM in Scotland will continue at every opportunity to campaign for the restoration of political status and to develop solidarity with those who languish in a British gaol in occupied Ireland. We are confident that support for the demands and with Irish political prisoners will continue to grow.

The Republican Voice

Members of both the Vol Charles Carrigan Cumann and the Gaughan/Stagg Cumann successfully distributed the Sovereign Nation at Celtic Park with our members reporting all copies taken by interested fans, literally minutes of the start of the distribution. The overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from fans confirmed the hunger that exists amongst the republican base for genuine republicanism and the degree of support that exists for the 32CSM and Irish resistance to Britain's illegal hold over part of Ireland.

Despite the attempts by Strathclyde Police to stop our members distributing the Sovereign Nation and the threat of arrest, including the spurious assertion made by one policeman to one of our members that he would be arrested if he was seen again distributing an "illegal paper", our members would not be intimidated and continued to distribute the Sovereign Nation.

We believe the appetite for the genuine republican voice in Scotland meant we could have distributed three or four times as many papers and our members will be continue to distribute the Sovereign Nation at Celtic Park and in Glasgow's East End in future.
